Power Without Force: The Leadership Shift MujerPreneurs Must Make
For years, I thought leadership meant strength through intensity.
Work harder.
Push more.
Outperform.
Outshine.
As a Latina in leadership spaces, I learned quickly that excellence was expected — but effort had to be doubled.
When I became a Principal, I thought leadership meant commanding a room.
What I learned instead changed everything.
Force does not create trust.
Power does.
And that lesson followed me into entrepreneurship.
The Hidden Exhaustion of Force
Many MujerPreneurs are building their businesses from subtle pressure.
Pressure to prove.
Pressure to outperform.
Pressure to never slow down.
Especially in BIPOC communities, we’ve inherited narratives that say survival requires constant force.
But force-based leadership is reactive.
It runs on urgency.
It creates nervous system strain.
And eventually, it burns women out.
You can build revenue from force.
But you cannot build legacy from it.
What Power Feels Like
Power is regulated.
Power is calm.
Power is intentional.
When I led schools, I discovered something simple: when my nervous system was steady, the entire environment shifted. Teachers felt supported. Students felt safe. Results improved.
That wasn’t softness.
That was strategy.
The same principle applies in business.
When a MujerPreneur leads from alignment instead of adrenaline:
• Her marketing feels clean, not aggressive.
• Her collaborations feel expansive, not competitive.
• Her decisions are strategic, not reactive.
That is power.
Collaboration Is Not Weakness
One of the biggest myths in entrepreneurship is that competition sharpens you.
Sometimes it isolates you.
Overlapping audiences are not threats.
They are expansion.
When Latina and BIPOC founders collaborate — through referrals, shared stages, podcast interviews, restacks — we multiply visibility instead of fragmenting it.
Collaboration is not a charity act.
It is a growth strategy rooted in cultural wisdom.
The Question to Ask Yourself
Are you building from force?
Or from power?
Force asks: “How do I win?”
Power asks: “How do we rise?”
Force is loud.
Power is steady.
If you are building your business and feeling exhausted, it may not be your strategy that needs fixing.
It may be your leadership energy.
