Ancestral Rage as Medicine
At 58, I thought I had finally made peace with everything, until a stranger called me “too much” and I wanted to scream. I had no idea where that fire was coming from. It took me weeks to realize it had been waiting for me for generations.

Hola, hermosa. Has anyone ever told you that you are "too intense"? Too loud, too direct, too much? Many of us heard it so often that we built our whole personalities around being smaller. We learned that niñas se ven y no se oyen, and we carried that rule into our marriages, our careers, and our businesses.
Today I want to offer you a different story about the fire inside you. In many Indigenous and Latina traditions, anger is not only personal. It is ancestral. It is the memory of mujeres who survived silence, scarcity, and rules they never chose. Their unspoken truth did not disappear. It traveled through the lineage and landed in your chest.
Protection, Not Poison
When rage rises, most of us are taught to stuff it down. But anger is a messenger. It points to the place where a boundary was crossed or your worth was questioned. When you reframe it as an ancestral protective instinct, everything changes. You stop asking, "What is wrong with me?" and start asking, "What is this protecting?"
Rage that is ignored becomes exhaustion and resentment. Rage that explodes without awareness hurts the people we love. But rage that is witnessed and honored becomes clarity, courage, and fuel. That is the medicine.
What It Means for Your Business
If you are a MujerPreneur over 55, you may feel this fire most when it is time to charge what you are worth, to launch, or to speak up. That hesitation is often the old good girl program running in the background. Your abuela may not have had the chance to build her dream in the open. You do. When you step forward, you carry her with you.
I see it again and again with Mujeres reinventing themselves later in life. They finally decide to write the book, start the podcast, or open the coaching practice, and the first feeling to arrive is guilt. Underneath the guilt is anger, asking, "Why did I wait so long?" Hermosa, you did not wait too long. You waited until it was safe, and that is a very wise kind of waiting.
Three Ways to Ground and Release
One, Raíces Breath. One hand on your belly, one on your heart, feet flat on the floor. Breathe in slowly, let the exhale be long, and ask, "What is this anger protecting?" Then say, "Gracias, I hear you, I am safe now," three times.
Two, the Ancestor Altar. Once a week, light a candle and pour a glass of water for the mujeres in your lineage. Name one of them and say, "I will speak for you now."
Three, Lo Que No Pude Decir. Write an unsent letter that begins "Lo que no pude decir era…" and let the anger say it all. Read it out loud, then tear it up or keep it safe.
These practices support your healing, but they do not replace a licensed therapist, especially if you are working through deep trauma.
If you want to go deeper, I share a full grounding ritual audio with my community on https://martiangel.gumroad.com, where I write every week about ancestral healing and reinventing yourself at any age.
And if you are writing your next chapter, my book is a gentle place to begin. You can find it on https://www.amazon.com/Change-Your-Energy-Life-Personal-ebook/dp/B0078IMO8S?ref_=ast_author_mpb, or grab the https://martiangel.gumroad.com/l/yltof.
Either way, mi hermosa, your fire was never a problem. It was a gift.
Tonight, before you sleep, thank the mujeres behind you. Light a candle if you like, and whisper, "I will speak for you now." Then let yourself rest, knowing that you are never walking alone.
